The Grand Prix Beroun is one of the biggest competitions in the Czech Republic. My good friend Tomas Vintr is the event organiser and has extended his invitation to compete in his event ever since I won the Kimberley Diamond Cup South African division in 2014.
This contest is extremely special to me personally as it was the first contest I ever attended on the international circuit when I was still In grade 11 at school. The first experience helped me make so many life long friends as well as help me reassure myself that I had the potential to be a professional skateboarder.
The contest consisted of a format that I have never skated before being an organised Jam. This means that you have to perform single tricks in a specific order given to us. There were 50 invited skateboarders from around the world in which I was the South African representative. Despite the format that I wasn't quite familiar with, I managed to qualify through to the semi-finals in 6th place.
The top 12 skateboarders made it through to the semi-finals the following day. Every single one of the skateboarders that qualified through to the semis could have won this contest on a good day. The final cut consisted of the top 6 skateboarders from the semi- finals and I knew that everybody was going to step up their game to make the finals. I tried my best to get through to finals however it didn't go as planned and I didn't land all my tricks. I ended my contest journey in the semi finals and ended in 9th place overall.
